Music Blog

Image
Hey everyone and welcome back to another blog! Today I will be talking about the process I went through with trying to find music for our film.  During the time of me looking for music we only had a few more scenes to film so I think it was a perfect time to start looking for the perfect background music. I knew that our film genre is thriller, so I wanted to make sure our music fit the genre accurately. I refreshed my knowledge on the type of music that would sound good, so I watched the opening sequence of two different movies but really just listened for the type of music to use.  After I did this, I had a much better idea of what type of music to look for. Majority of the music wasn't super scary. It had more of an eerie feeling. So, the next thing I did was went straight to YouTube to look for free music to use. I wanted to make sure that the music I found was free so that we didn't copyright. I searched "Thriller movie background music" to start and the first f

Production Blog: Final Scenes

Image
Hey everyone welcome back to another blog! Today I will be talking about the final scenes my group and I filmed. We started right where we left off with Marissa and I about to play hide and seek. This is just a bunch of different scenes of Marissa looking for me. There was one scene that was difficult to film. Peyton couldn't get the right angle in the beginning. She filmed it a couple more times so now we have multiples scenes to work with when editing. The next few scenes were upstairs. There was one scene that was filmed in the twin's bathroom. It was supposed to look like Marissa was looking for me hiding in the shower. Peyton didn't feel super comfortable stepping into the twin's bathroom, so Mackena filmed this scene. The next scene we filmed upstairs was the scene of Marissa looking under a bed. We used Mackena's room for this since her room is right near the bathroom and it was cleaner than Marissa's room. We had to get the camera at the right angle to

Production Blog: Meeting up at Starbucks

Image
Hey everyone and welcome back to another production blog! Today I will be talking about how my group, and I met up at Starbucks to plan everything else for the film. We met up at this same location on the last project and it seemed to work very well for us. We decided to do this because trying to plan everything over text just wasn't working well. We went to Starbucks after a long day at school, but we needed to plan everything out. I love Starbucks so I got a coffee so that helped me stayed energized to get this done. Once everyone got their little snacks, we got ready to plan out our other filming days. Peyton even brought a planner to just write down all the days we could do so everyone was on the same page. When discussing days to film, either the end of the week or the weekend works best for me. I work on the weekends though so sometimes I have to schedule days off work. It is still so much better to film over the weekend then during the school week. It was getting a little s

Production Blog: Rewriting the Script

Image
Hey everyone and welcome back!! Today I will be talking about the changes that were made in our script to better fit specific scenes. Our original script didn't fit the scene we were filming. In this case it was the two-shot of Marissa and I talking on the couch. the original conversation didn't fit the timeline that we had set for the film. We just wanted to make the conversation more casual. We also wanted more time of dialogue. In the original script were only talking for like 20 seconds. After this scene we moved to a shot of just me sighing and saying I guess so. This sigh shows how much not being friends with Mackena really affected my mental health. At first, I wasn't sighing but by adding the sigh it adds to how I'm distressed over the situation Marissa took out the sentence "I have always had a bad feeling about her." Since their sisters in the film, it doesn't really make sense for her to say that so I'm glad she changed that part. So, we le

Production Blog: outside scenes

Image
Hello bloggers! Welcome back to another blog! Today I will be talking about the scenes that my group and I completed outside! We were able to film almost all of the outdoor scenes, since our last filming day was cut short due to the rain. The first scene we filmed was of Mackena and I as little girls. It shows us walking down the sidewalk, holding hands. This scene was a little tricky to film in the beginning. Since it was raining earlier in the week the streets were still a little wet and there were still clouds out, so we needed to be careful of that. Peyton filmed two different versions of us walking. She filmed us walking towards the camera, and away from the camera. Therefore, when we go to edit, we have different scenes to work with. The next scene we filmed was Mackena and I at the park.  The twins have a park near their house, so we walked there to film the scene. Unfortunately, the park was really busy, so it took us a while to get the scene to look good. It was really windy o

Production Blog: Rainy days

Image
Hey everyone and welcome back to another blog!! Today I will be talking about how the weather has prevented us from filming specific scenes.  The main goal that my group and I had when going to film was to get as much done in one day as we can since it's kind of challenging to get everyone in the same area. this sadly did not go as planned. The day we planned to finally start filming was the day it decided to pour out. None the less we had to start filming no matter what or we wouldn't meet our deadlines. The rain was so bad that it took me 45 minutes to get to Mackena and Marissa's when on a normal day it only takes me about 15 to 20 minutes. Once I got there, we waited for Peyton since she lives even further away than I do. Once she finally got there, we began filming just the inside scenes so we could still get some production done for that day. So, for the rest of the day, we just filmed the children's scenes that were filmed inside. These scenes were actually quit

Production Blog: Prep Day

Image
Hey everyone and welcome back to another blog! Today I will be discussing the process my group and I went through to get all of our supplies for filming day. Marissa, Mackena, Peyton and I all met up after school to get some necessitates for filming. Our first few scenes of our final task consist of myself and Mackena as little girls. I originally had two little girls that we were going to use. They were my dad's best friend's daughters. They were the perfect age and everything but unfortunately, they were out of town the week we needed to film those scenes. So, we moved to the backup plan which was to just dress Mackena and I up as little girls. We needed some supplies for that though. We were mainly looking for bright, vibrant dresses. Just something that a a6 year old would wear but make it fit a 17-year-old girl. We also searched the Clearnce section for any girly jewelry we could find that fit the vibe. The twins had some of their old stuffed animals at their house from w

Production Blog: Failing to film day one

Image
Hey bloggers and welcome back. Today I will be discussing the problems my group and I had with beginning filming. Since I got over my cold, as well as Peyton we planned a day to begin filming. Unfortunately, this did not go as planned. None of really wanted to film during the week because that meant we had to go to school all day and film after. We did this in our last film production and personally for me, I felt I would have done better if we just had all day to film. So that's what we decided to, which was film over the weekend. Since this was a sudden change for the group, neither Marissa nor I could take off work. I work at Publix as a cashier so it's much harder for me to call out since I'm more needed. Luckily though I wasn't alone in the group. Marissa just recently got her to job so it won't look good for her to already begin calling out. She also works over an hour away from the filming location. So therefore, we made the decision that no one was thrilled

Production Blog: Trouble with startup

Image
Hello and welcome back to my blog! Today I will be talking about the struggles my group and I have had with beginning production.  Our goal was to start the week after we finished our storyboard, but life had other plans. This past week I missed 3 days of school due to a bad cold I caught. This set us back about a week since I am the main actor in the film. I was really stressed with school and especially this project. I was worried that we were going to fall behind. Peyton was also sick this past weekend and she is our team's director, so we were not able to film over the weekend too. Since then, our group sat down together in hopes to revise the schedule. After revising the schedule, we were able to get everything back on track. Making the schedule was really beneficial for me. It helps me know what needs to get done every week. It makes sure my group and I won't fall behind. We did have to edit some dates, so now we have to film some days after school. This is works for me
