Production Blog: Rewriting the Script

Hey everyone and welcome back!! Today I will be talking about the changes that were made in our script to better fit specific scenes.

Our original script didn't fit the scene we were filming. In this case it was the two-shot of Marissa and I talking on the couch. the original conversation didn't fit the timeline that we had set for the film. We just wanted to make the conversation more casual. We also wanted more time of dialogue. In the original script were only talking for like 20 seconds. After this scene we moved to a shot of just me sighing and saying I guess so. This sigh shows how much not being friends with Mackena really affected my mental health. At first, I wasn't sighing but by adding the sigh it adds to how I'm distressed over the situation Marissa took out the sentence "I have always had a bad feeling about her." Since their sisters in the film, it doesn't really make sense for her to say that so I'm glad she changed that part. So, we left the conversation off with Marissa saying, "She was never good to you anyway." This shows the audience that whatever happened between Riley and Mackena, Marissa is on Riley's side and not her sisters. We then went back to the original two - shot and finished this scene with Marissa saying, "let's play a game to get your mind off this" and I say, "let's play my all-time favorite, Hide and Go Seek." The main goal here for this dialogue is to in a way confuse the audience and create some suspense. Why is Marissa on Riley's side and not her sisters? Why are they playing such a childish game as teenagers? All these questions are something that the audience should be asking themselves when watching. We also want to show how I feel comfortable with Marissa and sharing information with her. By her asking about the situation proves that I have shared this private information with her in the past which creates a bond overall.

This was all of the dialogue we have edited so far, so I will see you guys in the next blog!!
