Movie Conventions Research: Maze Runner: The Death Cure

This film features many different elements and conventions that are found in my past research that I plan to use in my opening sequence.

There are a wider variety of camera angles, movements and shots in this film. Some include wide shot, birds eye view, pan, Dutch angle, three shot, two shot, close up and establishing shot. There is lots of use of diegetic sounds which are mainly occurring in the background of the scene which can cause some suspense towards the viewer. there was a large amount of dramatic music in the intense scenes like when someone was running from a bad thing, or an argument was occurring. The lighting changes throughput the film. In the Beginning the film is brighter and gives a hopeful feeling to the audience. By the end of the film the lighting fits the mood which is dark and suspenseful

There are many props like weapons used to protect the boys from the "Cranks." The use of makeup is huge here because of the zombie like creatures would need a major transformation to look dead. Makeup is also used to created injures and core especially after battles.

The overall actin in the Maze Runner: The Death cure is praised for its emotional depth and authenticity. Dylan O'Brien's performance as Thomas, along with the rest of the cast, captures the urgency, fear, and determination of the characters, which enhances the films intensity and connecting with audiences.

the main convention I found most entertaining was the story the movie is telling. The use of various props, camera angles and acting skills allows you to watch this dystopian thriller that keeps their audience engaged. I also liked the plot twist at the end which proves that Thomas all along was their cure to all their problems.

One element I personally did not like was the predictability of certain scenes. For example, one of the characters dies in the film which was very predicted. Also, the main character never seems to get injured when every other character gets hurt or worse. While the movie had a good plot twist the answer was found out too late and one of the main characters died.
